Hello Friends,

As I recently visited Vrindavan, here I am sharing my experience and details which might be helpful while your travel.

About Vrindavan;

Vrindavan is considered to be a holy place of Hinduism, it is located in the district of Mathura and about 100 miles southeast of Delhi. The Hindu god Krishna is said to have spent his childhood in Vrindavan and surrounding places. Although Vrindavan is not Krishna’s birth place but it is the place where he spent a lot of time in playful activities and teasing the cow herding girls and gopis.

In the modern times, this town hosts hundreds of temples dedicated to the worship of Radha and Krishna and it is one of the busiest holy place near Delhi and north India where thousands of visitors come every week.

Trip Planning;

As the trip is planned for 2 days, we should first plan it by selection of sites instead of just rushing and start the travel. Selection of a variety of different places will be a more interesting.

In the given time period important places can be visited like Shri Rangnath Ji Temple, Prem Mandir, Iskcon and Banke bihari Mandir. There are many more places of interest in Vrindavan which we highlight later stage of this article.

Budget and luxury hotels options are also available in the Prem Mandir surrounding area but we recommend booking the hotel in advance so that you get a good deal and hotel confirmed. Food quality in this area is also looks to be good depending upon the price as there are various options available.

Let us start the trip now;

Day 1.

  1. Started early in the Morning from Delhi (about 5 am – 6 am) and travel via Yamuna Expressway.
  2. At each toll plaza, there are clean toilets and restaurants available for breakfast.
  3. Reach Vrindavan at about 10 am.
  4. Visit Shri Rangnath Ji Temple as it closes about 12 pm.

Shri Rang Ji Temple is the largest Temple of Vrindavan, which was built in the year 1851 and dedicated to Lord Rangnatha which represents Lord Vishnu. The design of this temple looks like South Indian Temples and most of the priests are from South. Overall environment of the temple is quite peaceful.

  1. After visit of Shri Rang Ji Temple, Hotel Check-in, lunch and little relax can be planned until 4 pm.
  2. Evening of the first day trip must booked for Prem Mandir,

Among the many temples dedicated to Lord Krishna in Vrindavan, the newly built Prem Mandir is seen as “a great art of marbles” that is one of the major tourist attractions. Prem Mandir is established by Kripalu Ji Maharaj,

This temple is great monument in terms of its unique design, beauty and lighting effects. The most interesting feature of this temple is change of lighting colours and the musical fountain; this can also be seen in the large number of videos posted by individuals in ‘YouTube’.

Day 2.

  1. Start early in the Morning and move towards ‘Banke Bihari Temple’.

This is one of the most popular temple of Vrindavan and most crowded as we experienced, so early morning darshan here is a good idea to avoid crowd. In this temple, Bihariji is worshipped in a different manner in Shringar, Rajbhog and Shayan. One thing that is common in all local temples is the chanting of ‘Radhe-Radhe’. The Lord is in love with Radha Rani and devotees chant the name all the time in the temples.

  1. After visit of Banke Bihari Temple, we can have morning breakfast.
  2. The last destination of this short trip is ‘The Sri Sri Krishna Balaram Mandir’ of World’s most popular society ‘ISKCON’.

Visitors after entering the temple doors find themselves transported to the spiritual world upon seeing the palace of Krishna Balaram. The 24 hour kirtan enters the heart of everyone and devotees raise their arms and dance.

After ‘ISKCON’ we can have a shopping from local market and this short weekend trip comes to an end.

If you like to spend more time here, further visiting places are; Radha Damodar Temple, Madan Mohan Temple, Nidhivan, Govind Deo Temple etc.

Mathura, Barsana and Govardhan are also nearby to Vrindavan for your extended trip.

Overall Experience;

Vrindavan is the perfect weekend destination for Delhiites. We enjoyed trip a lot and recommend that you must visit here once.

We suggest leaving on or before 4 pm so that one can return Delhi by 7 pm to avoid traffic and safe travel in daylight.
